Felix

Vienne spent the night at her grandparents house (who just moved to town this week) and came home with a new friend. Felix the frog. Our daughter loves frogs but this was her first encounter with catching a real live frog. And of course she wanted to keep it. That wasn’t an option in our minds. We don’t know the first thing about keeping a frog. It just wasn’t going to work out.

We talked to Vienne about letting the frog go. We used all the regular arguments. He needs to live in his natural habitat. He needs to be with his family. He wants to go home. Vienne countered with the best logic a 5-year-old can come up with – which is surprisingly some good logic.

I finally offered to take pictures of Felix so she could have photos of him to keep forever and then we could let him go. Much to my surprise she agreed with that option and we snapped some photos and let him go. We had no tears, no drama.
