Sleeping Child

Our son fell asleep with his favorite, for the moment, new toy. A small hobby horse. It was quite the feat for this to happen. My wife really wanted it documented. But the last thing I want on a Sunday night is to wake my boy up from slumber with my camera flash.

My solution was to grab my favorite little flashlight. The light is pretty bright but I still had to crank the ISO on my camera a little high. But it sure beats blasting a strobe in the room

I had to experiment a little with where to hold the flash light but after I figured out how to juggle the light and the camera I think it worked out pretty good. The thing I like most about it is that the lighting still has the effect of being at night. Direct flash would ruin some of the storytelling in the photo.
